Stolen Art
Paladin Associates specializes in Third Reich stolen art investigations. On account of our experience gained through restitution cases in the 1990s concerning confiscation of property, forced auctions, and the use of slave labor during the Third Reich, we are also particularly well-positioned to support clients in matters of determining provenance of a work of art.
Our research consists of investigations not only in archives, libraries, and museums but also in finding and interviewing witnesses, speaking to art experts, collectors, and galleries. During a provenance investigation we attempt to determine the previous owners and collectors in order to reconstruct the path of ownership that the piece of art took and identify its current location.
Recently Paladin Associates assisted a client in providing information about the collection of paintings held by
Cornelius Gurlitt in Munich.
